I travel the country for both ...

I travel the country for both my main jobs, having to entertain clients at nice restaurants in many states. I hate to say it, but this has to easily be the worst experience I have ever had any sit-down restaurant, let alone a steakhouse who has high prices for what you get in both service and quality.

Friday night reservation for 11 people. The place was not busy at all, but was preparing for a huge party coming in around 7pm across the hall. We could see our table was ready, told the hostess we were all here and ready whenever they were to be seated. 15 minutes later, we still aren't seated. We had to ask again if they were ready for us. The hostesses response, "Oh, we thought you weren't ready". Strike 1.

Sit down, order drinks at 6:25pm, (no wine, just softdrinks), 15 minutes later, waitress finally comes back to take order. Strike 2. Asking if we wanted appetizers. Not really, we have been waiting long enough, we are ready to order food. Done taking our order at 6:50pm. Salads come out around 7:10pm. 7:30 and no food. 7:45 and no food. Strike 3! Waitress is avoiding stopping by our table for drink refills, cause they can tell we are not happy. Finally at 7:57pm most of our food is ready. OOPS! Waitress forget one entire entree, admitting it was her fault. Let's wait some more! Good thing this isn't baseball or you would be OUT by now. Strike 4.

Missing meal comes out around 8:10pm. Since it was rushed, of coarse it was cooked wrong. Strike 5. Finally around 8:30pm we asked the hostess to see the manager. Waitress was afraid to stop by. 15 more minutes go by. Strike 6. 8:45pm the hostess asked if we wanted some food boxed up again. To which we respond, "No, we are still waiting for the manager." Hostess responds with, "He is kind of busy right now, can we give him a message?". Strike 7. Are you kidding me! We were floored. Manager is too busy to come over and talk to an upset customer. Finally the owner came by and apologized, but stated excuse after excuse. 1) 2 people called in sick. 2) party across the hall. 3) your waitress is brand new (obviously she wasn't trained very well). 4) Owner was having to help rather than manage.

In the end, the owner gave us 1/2 price meals. Even so, can't make up for all of this. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Avoid J's...save yourself the headaches, overpriced low quality food, and poor service.
