Fresno County Economic Opportunities Commission, also known as EOC, is one of the largest nonprofit community action agencies in the United States. Founded in 1965, the agency provides employment and training, health care, child care, life skills training, and seniors and youth-related services to more than 150,000 residents of Fresno County in California. The services provided by the agency comprise various facets of human services and economic development that include preschool education, vocational training, youth recreation, senior citizen hot meal services, preventive health care and prenatal nutrition education. It also provides juvenile and drug abuse counseling, energy conservation education, crisis intervention, treatment for serious juvenile offenders and job placement services. Located in Fresno, Calif., the commission is a private corporation, governed by a 24-member tripartite board of commissioners.
