I really enjoy taking Sparky into PETCO. Most of the workers remember Sparky and treat us very well.

On March 6, 2010, I took my dog to the Fresno Petco Grooming Salon for a bath and haircut. She was in perfect health. The day after her grooming, my son and I noticed our dog begin to itch. At first, I thought it might be from the grooming bath or shampoo, although she doesn’t usually itch from things like that. As the week progressed, she continued to itch on a consistent basis. Her skin began to turn red all over her body. With each day, the redness got worse and she continued to scratch. Her hair began to fall off in clumps. We bathed her with just water because we thought she may have been allergic to the salon shampoo in case you used something new. That did not help. We checked her for fleas by the weekend and although we did not see any, I began to think she picked up fleas from the grooming salon. I bought flea shampoo and gave her another bath by Sunday. That did not help the itching to go away either. I even wrapped her paws with medical tape so she couldn’t do any more harm while scratching. She stayed up all night on Sunday night in pain. By Monday March 15, 2010 in the morning, I couldn’t watch her suffer any longer and took off a couple of hours from my work to take her to the Pet Hospital where the Veterinarian diagnosed her with Mange. I am convinced that she did not contract it from our home since we do not have any other pets, our dog has not been around other pets, and I have an exterminating company service my house and yard on a regular basis to keep pests out. I contacted Petco and it took two months to finally speak to the right person. He denied this came from Petco although I am 100% certain that it did. They refuse to reimburse me to almost $400.00 of medical costs. Keep your pet safe and away from this business. It is not worth the risk or the expense.
