As one of the world s best-known international brands, BIC Corporation was founded in 1945 by Marcel Bich. Offered throughout the world, the company s products encompass ballpoint pens, pocket lighters and one-piece shavers. The company opened its first branch in the United States in 1958 when it purchased the Waterman Pen Company in Seymour, Conn. BIC began manufacturing lighters in 1973 and one-piece shavers in 1975. In 1981, the company began producing BIC Sailboards under the BIC Sport label and added Wite-Out Brand products to its product list in 1992. BIC s portfolio of trademark brands includes BIC, Conte, BIC Kids, Stypen, Sheaffer, Wite-out and Tipp-Ex. The company maintains a facility in Gaffney, S.C.
