Located in Gainesville, Fla., the Fire Rescue Department has been serving Alachua County for over 30 years, aiding citizens with fire response and emergency medical services, emergency management and public education initiatives. It maintains the Office of E-911, which is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the automatic location information database for the county. The Fire Rescue Department also has an emergency management division that develops and coordinates programs to protect the public from natural and technological hazards, as well as coordinates with local municipal emergency programs. The department provides various house and general fire and moving safety tips, as well as conducts a variety of public education training sessions and classes.
