Daiki Soma, MD, PhD, is a clinical assistant professor specializing in multiorgan transplant in the division of transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine.Dr. Soma attended medical school at Niigata University School of Medicine in Niigata, Japan. During this time, he completed an externship at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center in the department of pediatric surgery and infectious disease. He was a clinical observer in the hepatopancreatobiliary section in the department of surgical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and a clinical observer in the department of organ transplantation surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York. Thereafter, he completed a general surgery residency at Toranomon Hospital in Tokyo, and a surgical oncology fellowship at Niigata University Hospital. He then obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in surgical oncology at Niigata University School of Medicine.Prior to joining UF Health, Dr. Soma was a clinical fellow at Indiana University Health University Hospital. He was also a mentor and tutor at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he taught medical students and residents in the intensive care unit and operating room.
