OPEN NOW - Closes at 6:00pm

I met a friend at Maude's on Thursday night shortly after 10:00 pm. We ordered coffees and wanted to talk, but noticed there were people studying that we didn't want to disturb, so we chose a table in the mall seating area. However there was a table of teenage women there being a little loud, so we chose to go back inside. We were not at our table 10 minutes before one of the staffpeople announced to the room "Um, we're closing now, so you gotta wrap it up, people". This was shortly before 10:30. My friend asked; "I thought you were open till 11:00" ( the posted hours). "Yeah, well, we're closing early, so..." Was the styaff person't noticeably exasperated reply. Thery had locked to interior door to the mall seating area, so we unlocked that door and went back outside where we re4sumed our conversation. Then at about 10:45 another staffperson came outside and kind of half-shouted; "We'r'e closed! So this is OVER!"

I've written to the management and, absent an appology I will never be back, and neither will my friend or any of our other mutual friends. The food and coffee may be good, but the abuse we can do without. It may be a good place for "people watching" but the unmitigated disdain for customer service or even common courtesy on the part of the staff that night .... let's just say the employees that night at Maude's are people I don't need to "watch" or see ever again.

I love the outdoor seating at night. Perfect place to people watch and have a cup of tea. Their food is ok...if a bit dry. Don't go for the Internet...it sucks.
