I brought two high end watches in to be repaired. One was running slow, the other wasn't running. For the appraisal he wanted $85 to waterproof the watch that wasn't running and another $80 to oil the movement. For the other he wanted $540 to overhaul, explaining it had been damaged during its last service. Waterproofing the first watch involves replacing a gasket that costs pennies. Oh, and it was new as I have an entire box full of them. The second watch had NEVER been open, and an overhaul from the manufacturer costs $500. He got upset when I pointed this out, and told me if I know so much I should do it myself. I got my watches back a few days later (he sends them out to be worked on) and they were both damaged. Neither ran. The backs were loose. He kept the battery from one watch, and I suspect damaged the board as the movement no longer pulses. The other I will send to the manufacturer, but it was working when I brought it to him. I wouldn't do business with this man, he seems to rely on taking advantage of his customers.
