I live in Chicagoland. My wife and I were quite surprised that the food here was this good. This restaurant is comperable with Italian Dining at home. The service was as good as any place we have been to. I had Veal Parmasean and the Veal was perfect. My wife had the Chicken Marsela and said she would order it again. We did not expect dining this far away from Chicagoland would be this good. The next time we are in Galena, we will eat here again.

The atmosphere was wonderful, the salad and garlic bread were great, BUT THEN...we ordered one of the so called "House Specialties" (Seafood Italiano at $18.95 a plate), and were surprised to find imitation crab (called Surimi Crab so beware!), in addition to one tiny scallop, no shrimp, and one tiny (we thought it was the shrimp at first) lobster tail (which was quite tough). It was pretty surprising that a seemingly nice restaurant like Vinny Vannuchi's would put imitation crab in one of their family's special dishes! We will be trying Fried Green Tomatoes next time we are Galena, which from what we hear is a more upscale Italian restaurant than Vinny's.
