No compassion

We entrust animal hospitals with the care of our pets. Our family members, our friends that give us unconditional love and companionship, they depend on us. They trust us, and it is our responsibility to make sure that they are taken care of. Some people may consider animals "just pets". Well for those of you that feel that way, you may not understand where I am coming from. I have 2 pets, and a third that passed away a year ago in the care of Horizon animal hospital after a week long stay, She was discharged after 7 days, telling us that all of her blood levels were back to normal and that she was ready to go home. They gave us false hope. Told us that they couldn't believe how she had recovered so well. The very next day we took her in because she could not go to the bathroom, and needed to be catheterized. The veterinarian Dr Matt Glass tried to put the catheter in, and after 10 minutes of hurting her, he went and got some lubrication to make it easier, but not until after the bleeding he started from trying to jam the catheter in for 10 minutes and many yelps in pain had occurred. Anyway, they got her to go to the bathroom, through the catheter, and said we would have to come back and do this every day for maybe a week. We where willing to do this of course. However, We did not get that chance. We got her home, and she would not eat, drink, and kept throwing up vial after her visit. I of course called, I spoke with the receptionist pat about our concerns, she with NO compassion AT ALL, basically blew it off, and told me just to call back the next day. Ariel died that next morning basically choking on her own vomit. We where beside ourselves. After she passed, they told us to bring her lifeless body in. I really wish I hadn't let the receptionist blow us off the day before. Because she may have lived had she seen the "doctor". Anyway, We dropped off her body, with a lot of tears and we were lost. Of course very emotional and they asked us to go to the back door, and had us leave her in the back hall, LITERALLY next to the trash. I kick myself, because I should have known then, to stop going there. Unfortunately, I did not. Finally, there is our Golden Retriever Maddi. She had Surgery there on her leg with Doctor Matt Glass. He told me that he had done the surgery many times, and that he had NEVER had any issues with the method that he was going to use. Well, unlucky us, because she had to go back to have ANOTHER surgery to correct the fact that the band that he put in her leg didn't stay in place and was causing her severe pain in the joint. She could barely stand up! Another SEVERAL MONTHS of recovery, and more pain pills. Fast forward now to a year later. She went in the other day to be treated for a hot spot. The "doctors" aka veterinarians were too busy to see her, so they had the "assistant" look at her Give her a steroid injection, and some cream to put on the wound. It was yellow, and puss was coming out of the affected area and smelled really foul. Fast forward a couple of days, I called, and told them that Maddi was drinking tons of BOWLS of water and having trouble going to the bathroom. Same thing that happened to Ariel, our German Shepard that had died 1 year ago to the day, and that I was concerned. Again, was told that the "doctors" aka veterinarians were too busy to see her, and that the "assistant" Basically just a "warm body" could look at it. NOT OK. ESPECIALLY given that it was the same symptoms that took the life of our other dog Ariel. You would think, that after not effectively addressing the needs of Ariel, that they may find the compassion, and have some basic concern to maybe take this seriously, since they seemed to have failed to recognize the severity of a similar situation once before! Dr. Glass, and Dr ...

The Vets are the best in Ohio in my opinion!! They look at the whole picture, never give up, & do not judge customers or treat them like they don't know any better!!

The Main receptionist is rude & never relays messages, never smiles, & treats customers like they don't know anything. I also heard more rude things from her from other customers too.

The vets here are perfectly competent and Dr. Glass is extremely good with dogs-kind and attentive.
However, I stopped taking my dogs there for 2 reasons. For one thing, they charge much more for basic services than any other clinic in the area and never ever warn you what the bill will be. I have been charged 3 times more there than at any other vet clinic for exactly the same services.
Their receptionist is incredibly rude and nasty towards clients and I cannot imagine why they would continue to let her be their customer representative. Hey Horizon! Put someone else at your front desk! It would make those high bills of your more palatable.

Dr John is awesome but steer clear of Dr Matt Glass....I truly believe he injured my dog and I chose to take him to Columbus, where it was confirmed.
