Based in Gallatin, Tenn., Sumner County Board of Education is a more than 10-member elected body empowered by state law to manage and operate the Sumner County School District. It serves students in grades kindergarten through 12 and has an enrollment of more than 26,000 students. The board provides basic education programs to students according to the state education guidelines. Sumner County Board of Education also performs a variety of responsibilities that include managing the schools under its jurisdiction, employing a director for each school, drafting and implementing policies for various operation of the school district and employing eligible and licensed teachers recommended by the director of schools.
