Provided by YP.comIt seems most appropriate that I just cut and paste my letter to Choice Hotels:
Dear Sir/Madam,
We have been unable to directly resolve our billing issue with the Comfort Inn and Suites Beachfront and General Manager Sam Shah. I wanted to make you aware of the unprofessional behavior of Mr. Shah, as he is a representation of your company.
As a small ship repair business, we travel frequently throughout the United States and, up to this point, have been satisfied with the various Choice Hotels at which we have stayed. Unfortunately, we will no longer consider any Choice Hotel properties because of our most recent, and very unpleasant, experience with Mr. Shah.
I am enclosing the letters we received both from Mr. Shah and Choice Hotels. You can see that we experienced a billing issue. Earlier this year, we paid $69.99 plus tax per night. When I booked new reservations on 2/25/11 (for seven rooms for the time period of 4/10/11 to 5/16/11) Mr. Shah quoted the same price we’d previously been given. The owner of our company checked out on 4/29/11 and noticed that we were being charged an additional $20 per night. The clerk, Dipen, assured (the owner of our company) that this was a mistake, which could easily be corrected in the morning with a phone call to Mr. Shah. This was not so. When we realized that Mr. Shah would not be cooperative in honoring his initial quoted rate, we made the decision to move our crew to another hotel. Mr. Shah realized he would be losing our business so he disallowed our employees access to their rooms until our foreman signed for the $89.00 a night rate. When our foreman declined to sign for the higher rate, Mr. Shah called the police. This was completely unnecessary, as I am sure you would agree. Eventually, our foreman relented only so our employees could obtain their belongings.
We have attempted to protest the charges (now totaling over $18,000) through our credit card company but have been unsuccessful due to our negligence in obtaining a written quote from the hotel. It is unfortunate that a verbal agreement is no longer an acceptable business practice.
I would also like to mention that Choice Hotels’ decision to send our complaint on to Mr. Shah seems akin to asking a child to choose their own punishment.
I do intend on posting this information on all possible hotel-finder websites (i.e. hotels.com) in an effort to warn other consumers of Mr. Shah’s unethical business practices, as well as Choice Hotels’ inaction in this matter.
Attached you will find reviews I’ve retrieved from such website further demonstrating Mr. Shah’s typical behavior.
I look forward to your reply.
