For 40 years, Special Olympics Idaho has provided unique opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, allowing them to become involved, contributing members of our communities and of society as a whole.
Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics has since remained at the forefront of issues related to intellectual disabilities.
Through the power of sport, Special Olympics Idaho is creating better communities by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people.
Our Mission: To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
