Clear the water

Ok, I am not one to laud the virtues of Baylor Garland and compare it to some of the truely excellent hospitals in the DFW area. However, it is certainly a solid hospital. The ER does have very long waits most of the time. Part of that is because over 60,000 people go through that ER every year. To the reviewer who went to the ER with back pain and no insurance, you were treated exactly like anyone else would have been treated. Actually, you didn't mention if they did an x-ray but I hope they didn't to save you money. You could go to the best ER's in the country, and they would give you narcotics or NSAIDS and refer you out. ERs don't fix people, they stabilize people. To the other reviewer... Most of the EM physicians in the DFW area work at mire than one location, so you could have just as easily gotten Dr. Skippy that couldn't recognize pneumonia almost anywhere. In the future, take your kid to the doctor before he runs fever for 3 days.

Horrible Hospital

I had three of my children at Baylor and loved the maternity part of Baylor but the hospital it's self is terrible! I took my 6 year old son in who had been running 104 fever for more than 3 days and we were not able to break it with tylenol or motrin. He wasn't eating or drinking he was in a cold sweat. For 3 days! This is not my first child he was number 3 out of 4. They doctors told me he had a stomach virus. I told them I didn't think it was a stomach virus because of all my kids I've never seen a stomach virus like this. They assured me that everything I was doing was correct and it was a stomach virus. Two days later with no break in the fever or cold sweats and still not eating or drinking I took him to another hospital. He had Pnemonia so bad that he was dehydrated completly the doctors said one more day and I may have lost my son. He stayed hooked to IV's and getting breathing treatments for four days. Baylor had the nerve to try and charge me for the visit after I told my insurance not to pay out because they almost killed my son. I would not send my dog or cat to this hospital much less a person!

don't throw drugs at people

I went to Baylor Garland on Sunday Nov 9 with severe back and leg pain. They asked if I had insurance. I said no. They sent me to PCE. The gentleman in the next bed was having the same problem but with his neck. They took him to XRay. The doctor told me I should go to Parkland. Then said I'll get you some of the good stuff and sent me on my way.

First, I am not a drug addict I went to the hospital because I wanted someone to fix my back not throw drugs at me and send me away. Second, you should treat all patients equally regardless of weather they have insurance or not. I have lived in Garland for 45 years and have watched Baylor since it was Garland Memorial grow in size but deteriorate on patient care and quality. You go to Emergency and wait 8 hours and still don't get seen. What a pathetic excuse for a hospital.
