Garner-Hayfield Elementary School provides a variety of learning programs for students in kindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, mathematics, science, technology education, social studies and reading. The school also offers a literature unit on tall tale and folk heroes where students in grade three are introduced to the stories of Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Pecos Bill, Slue-Foot Sue, Davey Crockett, Kate Shelly and Mike Fink. In addition, it provides instruction in music, arts and physical education. The school s media center has a large selection of print, nonprint and electronic resources. Located in Garner, Iowa, the elementary school is administered by the Garner-Hayfield Community School District.
