Their six sites span two sub-AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) of the Willamette Valley and their fruit is grown on all three of the major soil types favored for growing grapes in this area: Jory, Laurelwood and Willakenzie. Elk Cove is also known for the spectacular view of the Coast Range Mountains and vineyards of the bowl-like property that surround their tasting room. It's a three mile drive up from Gaston, Oregon, that's totally worth the view.Named for the herd of Roosevelt Elk that roam the nearby Coast Range Mountains, Elk Cove is one of Oregon's historic vineyards and was first planted in 1974 by Pat and Joe Campbell.
