I have a disable son who attended Slocomb High i am very disappointed how things are handled and what they can get away with.. I've gone to all of his I.E.P. meetings i have documentation of his disabilities and we discuss it the sad thing is when he has his meltdowns the staff members don't follow is I.E.P. so he feels alone.. In his I.E.P. he was going to stay in High School until he's 21 years old but that didn't happen because there was an incident that was not handle correctly which caused my son to have a melt down which the other student who accused my son of something that never happened. The only way my son has a melt down is if someone pushes the issue.. Which we do discuss this at the meetings.. The staff members and the principal has NO Compassionate for the disable.. So they pushed my son out of school and made us feel that he had to graduate much earlier than what was in his I.E.P. Plus the principal said inappropriate things to my disable son which made him feel uncomfortable.. Which i did inform the Board of Ed, The Mayor, The State Board 5, Ms. Birdsong didn't receive a response.. What gets me is the fact that I got his last report card and he failed with F2 classes then 1 class he got a D and then other 2 classes he got C but he graduated so what does that show... That having I.E.P. is such a waste of time.. I really don't understand how these high people like superindent and principal get there jobs.. We need have staff members who compassionate and understand the disable..I hope someone steps in and look into how the school is being run.. Sincerely Renee Miranda Concerned Parent..
