Owner's Response to Ted V. (page 3)

Before Ted's case was called, I spoke to the State's Attorney and he informed me that the method the officer used to measure Ted's speed was inaccurate, that the officer was not even in court, and that he had intended to drop the charges completely. I told Ted I was still ready, willing, and able to represent him and get him a better result, but again Ted declined my offer. Instead, Ted chose to plead guilty to a misdemeanor and was ordered to pay a hefty fine and perform community service. This case is a classic example of the old maxim, "he who represents himself has a fool for a client."I am saddened by Ted's decision to post his inaccurate and vindictive comments on Yelp and felt it was important to post this reply.

Owner's Response to Ted V. (page 2)

When I met Ted in court, he told me he had handled the case himself and told me the deal he had made with the State's Attorney. I was surprised and advised him that he should have called me if he wanted to cancel our arrangement. I calmly, but firmly, told him that I expected to be paid for my time and that, as an attorney, he should know better than to think otherwise. I also told him it was foolish for him to have attempted to represent himself in such a serious matter and that I could still get him a better result. He declined my offer and paid the agreed upon fee. Before Ted's case was called, I spoke to the State's Attorney and he informed me that the method the officer used to measure Ted's speed was inaccurate, that the officer was not even in court, and that he had intended to drop the charges completely. Owner's Response to Ted V.

I am Attorney Paul Heinrich. This post is in response to the one posted by Ted V. on 8/12/2011.Ted V. is also an attorney and, unfortunately, not a very bright or honest one. Ted received a traffic ticket for speeding 40 or more miles over the limit, a Class A misdemeanor. Attorney's who commit criminal offenses can have their law licenses suspended or even be disbarred. Since Ted was not an experienced traffic law attorney, he hired me to represent him.Contrary to Ted's assertion that I arrived to court late, I was early. When I arrived and checked in, the clerk of court could not find Ted's court file and we were looking for it when the Judge took the bench. We discovered that Ted had entered his own appearance and took the file to talk to the State's Attorney himself, rather than allow me to do the job I was hired to do. Ted apparently decided to represent himself, but did not call or email to tell me ahead of time.(Continued on next post)

Totally unprofessional

I hired Paul Heinrich to represent me in DuPage for allegedly speeding in excess of 40 mph. I never met him in person, but he agreed to meet me in court to discuss my case and attempt to negotiate with the states attorney for a lesser charge/sentence. I arrived in court twenty minutes early and no sign of the attorney. I waited until 5 minutes before the judge was to be on the bench and still no attorney so I spoke to the states attorney myself and was able to negotiate a lesser sentence and receive court supervision. Mr. Heinrich did not show up until the judge was already on the bench and he proceeded to call my name in open court while cases were being called. I asked why he was late and he gave no answer and I then told him I had already negotiated with the states attorney. At that point, he demanded his entire fee of $500 even though he did not do any work on my case, did not meet with me prior to court and didn't even file an appearance.Never use this attorney for anything!!

This DUI lawyer did a great job for me

Mr. Heinrich went above and beyond to get the best result for me on my second DUI. He got the summary suspension taken off and was able to get the case reduced to Reckless Driving. Pretty amazing since my first DUI happened only 4 years ago and I blew a .16 this time. If you are looking for a lawyer who's upfront about your chances and won't jack you around, call him. He treated me like a friend, not just a client.
