Provided by YP.comIn February 2014 I purchased a used car from Credit Cars. From day one the business owner Bill lied to me. He told me the car had 150,000 miles, the proper number was not displaying on the dash and when I finally had an oil change I discovered the car had over 180,000. I kept waiting to get the plates and registration and ended up at the Georgetown KY county clerk's office, they informed me that the car was never put into my name or the name of Credit Cars, it was under another person's name. It took over two months to finally get it in my name. In June 2014, a Frankfort KY police officer ran the plates and informed me that the car was not registered to me, it was not registered at all. I immediately called Bill and he accused an acquaintance of mine that she sent someone dressed in a police uniform to my house and that it was in fact in my name. At the end of June Bill sold my loan to Mid-Atlantic Finance, so the payment for the end of June was going to be the first to Mid-Atlantic. I had been on time all the months leading up to this, even paying extra. My husband unfortunately spent our car payment on alcohol (he is now almost 4 months sober), we immediately contacted Bill to see is we could work something out. We never heard from him the entire day until 6pm when a so called repo company pulled up in front of our house. The car payment was not even due until the next day and we explained this to Bill, who told us we had until Monday to come up with the payment. We tried to speak to Mid-Atlantic on Monday to see is there was anything we could do to save the car, there was not as we were a new customer, within the hour the car was taken from our house, with us being cooperative and giving up the keys. Since that time we have been continually harassed by Mid-Atlantic. In September I spoke with a Leo from Mid-Atlantic who said Credit Cars never bought the loan back and that it was definitely in my name and I was responsible for the remainder of the balance. This is when I discovered that Bill had been making partial payments in my name to Mid-Atlantic but never took the car out of my name. Mid-Atlantic would not believe me and the harassment continued until we retained an attorney. Mid-Atlantic said that not only was I responsible for the payments but they would also be reporting my negative credit activity to the credit bureaus. Luckily our attorney was able to resolve the problem with Mid-Atlantic and I am now not responsible for the car and that Bill illegally repoed the car and that they were now going after him.
