I just left the Georgetown, Texas store with my two boys, ages 11 and 13. We had intended to trade in four Wii system games and likely buy two XBox 360 games. However, while we were there, my 11 year-old asked to use the restroom. The young man behind the counter told him where it was located in the back of the store, then in front of several people in the store added, “If I catch you stealing any of my merchandise, you’ll be banded from coming back to this store.” Mind you, we are African Americans. My husband and I are HIGHLY educated (both Ph.D.s), upper middle-class parents. Our boys have NO reason to steal. Being told that was humiliating to my son, who came out of the bathroom crushed and shaken. I let the young man know that we had changed our mind about doing business with them because of his comment to my son. Furthermore, I suggested that he put signs up around the store regarding their policy on stealing.



This is pathetic and I plan to tell my entire neighborhood about this encounter. The young man NEVER even apologized! Another young man in the store did apologize, but I’m not sure that the young man who made the comment even realizes that he did ANYTHING wrong!!!



If there is a corporate office for Game X Change, I’d like to be sure they know about this incident.
