I had a bad experience with the shop over the last year. I went in with a friend about a year ago asking about cover ups. I was talking to one guy, Brian, and he told me he wasn't a cover up guy and got BJ.
At first, BJ threw out a high price and I almost walked out. He then began to ask me questions, along with Brian, and we got talk. My friend and I were in there for about an hour just talking out with these guys some of the issues we have had with other shops in the area. We worked out a lower price and payment plan.
After that I came in once a month putting down anywhere between 50-20 dollars between January and May, We decided on $600 in total for a large cover up piece on my forearm.
I more in academics and had the summer off and didn't have extra cash to put down on my tattoo between June and August. In early August BJ text and told me he was no longer at that shop and he was now at Black Heart. I called up to the shop after hours and got a call back the next day from Brain. I went in to ask him about a refund and he was working on a tattoo at the time. There were 4 signs in the lobby saying no refunds on a deposit so I decided not to even ask. I talked to him about another tattoo I wanted instead and said I would just like to start over from scratch on my cover up. He pushed me on to his wife Holly, who I had not scene once all the times I came into the job, but had read about her legal troubles in the local paper.
I went in the next day to talk to her about another tattoo, Her attitude was off putting and she didn't listen to me at all and talked me into a re-do on my tattoo instead of a cover up. I agreed and made an appointment for the following week.
I called up to the shop during the week and asked for an e-mail to send her some designs because I did not want a straight up re-do, I wanted a redesign or a cover up. I was told to send it via facebook , which I did with a lengthy message attached.
When I came in for my appointment she had not scene my message and actually yelled at me about not sending it to the email on their business card. She then yelled at me for the image I did send to the email. She printed off a few images and I have no cool why because she didn't use any of them and gave what I kept telling her I didn't want, a re-do of the original.
It does look a lot better, but after sitting with it for almost a week and think about my experience at the shop I will not go back there or recommended them to my friends and family.
