Terrible return possible, grumpy old man

Had a leaky toilet and decided to try to fix on my own. In removing the suspect part, a piece of it broke off. I called this place and was told they had the part. Owner (?) said he didn't know if it would fix the problem. It did not. In researching online found the part had been recalled. Flushmate sent me all new parts and even provided a plumber to install. Tried to return part to business but was told since it was open, he would not take it back. Wondered why he hadn't told me about the recall!!! He said, he "doesn't sell cars". Called Flushmate and they sent me a new part to return. He would not take it because "he had already restocked the part" and I, apparently, do not "understand retail". All he wants to do is argue and both times I left abruptly, heading home to write this up for all of his would be customers. Be sure you need the parts absolutely, because no matter what, he will not take them back.

The story you are about to hear is true

"The story you are about to hear is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent."It was a Saturday, February 8th. It was warm in Phoenix. We were working Weekend Watch out of the Homeowner’s Division. My partner’s Isabel Chihuahua, a real dog. The boss is Mywife. My name is Friday. I don’t carry a badge. It was Noon; I had started with the slacking off when suddenly the Boss reported a leaking shower valve.By 1 PM, I knew we had a serious case, a valve with a broken and STUCK cartridge. I went to a nearby Ace Hardware and showed them photos of the suspect, my valve. I had to get rough but finally guy said, “We don’t have anything like that … BUT Homeowners Plumbing Supply in Glendale may have it AND they are open on Saturdays” My Partner and I headed back to the patrol pickup.I GOGGLED Homeowners Plumbing supply. I phoned and spoke with Steve. First, he said they close at 2 PM on Saturdays. It was already past 1 PM. The Boss was out and about in our patrol truck. I knew I had to act quickly. I phoned her and asked if she would run to Glendale if Steve said he had the part we needed. The Boss agreed and headed west from her current location in Central Phoenix. I emailed Steve the photos and by the time my Boss got there, the parts were waiting on the counter. She headed back to our main office, home, with the parts.Steve informed me that I could just force out the stuck cartridge with a pair of Vice Grips. But to make sure I get the two small rubber washers from the valve. He said in the bag was a complete replacement, including the two rubber washers that would just slide right in. Steve was correct on all counts. The shower has been repaired and now works perfectly. The City can rest easy tonight, thanks to Steve at Homeowners Plumbing Supply in Glendale Arizona!

very helpful and owner/ operator. he said that he has been doing this for many years, and it shows in the way he takes care of customers. he is a one man band though, so you may have to wait a bit. that's worth it though!

Terrific Place

I have been going to Homeowners for 20 + years. Steve has always had the answer and parts. He is all knowing when it comes to plumbing repairs. He'll gladly show you how to do it.

Buyer Beware

BRUTAL return policy. Shopped there once or twice before without incident. However, yesterday, I bought $95 worth of parts to repair my shower. Didn't even take the parts out of the bag. Returned items the very next day. Charged me 20%. The business may want to reconsider return policy in order to:Be competitive with other Home Repair business'Not foster an adversarial relationship with his customersFoster positive word of mouth instead of negative

Fixed my problem for six bucks

A former pipefitter told me about Homeowners Plumbing Supply 18 years ago, and I've used them ever since. We had a shower that started making noise on the hot side, got worse over time till we were losing water flow. I put off fixing it because I thought it was over my head and the parts and labor would be steep. Lived with it nearly a year. Stopped in to Homeowners yesterday and described the problem to Steve, he pulled a fixture like mine from under the counter and showed me exactly what to do. The parts cost less than $6.00 and it took me all of 30 minutes to make it work like new. They have all the stuff for the older homes, stuff you don't see at the big box stores. When I thanked him and told him he's amazing, he laughs and says "No, I'm just old." Corner of 51st Ave. and T-bird.
