THE WORST!! I have a PUBLIC storage unit in Houston. They called weeks ago and asked for the key in order to make repairs to the unit door. They never returned the key. Went today and it was clear that the unit had been broken into and items stolen. They never informed us. This was clearly known to management. A new lock was on the unit. When asked for the new key we were told we had to buy the new lock that had been put on. Bought the new lock, got the key for it and opened the unit to find the old lock inside, cut off. Things stolen. We pay for the insurance with the unit. There is NO ONE AT PUBLIC STORAGE TO GIVE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FILE A CLAIM. Basically, there is no one at the company who will answer the phone. Called customer service and was told they would not even give me the name or phone number of the insurance company without confirmation of a drivers license. We moved to another state. Not the same DL. Offered Soc. Sec. Number, a/c number, Credit card on a/c. etc. They refused to tell us the name of the insurance company without DL verification. If Public offered this kind of security on their premises maybe I wouldn't be filing a claim. This is the worst customer service I have encountered anywhere for any company. I still don't know what I need to do or who to contact.
