Horrible Place to Give Birth

I gave birth to my son at Verdugo Hills Hospital in Feb of 2010. I wish I had known in advance that this hospital doesn't allow filming or pictures to be taken during the birthing process. I've never heard of a hospital not allowing you to snap a picture of your child as they are entering the world. I gave birth in 2008, in Atlanta, and was allowed to film the entire experience.

Additionally the hospital is old and not updated. The room they move you to after giving birth is tiny. You don't have your own shower. It was disgusting having to share a shower with other women (all whom have given birth within the day) and worry about getting infected with a strangers germs.

The staff were rude. I complained of having back pain and they told me to "get up and walk". They never offered the pain medication that my OB had ordered for me and when I did ask for my pain meds they asked me "Why do you need them?" Um, maybe because I just gave birth less than a day earlier.

I really regret my choice of this hospital and would tell anyone to stay away from it., especially pregnant women who are looking for a nice hospital to birth their baby in.

Recently had a very positive experience here with the folks who work in the ER and X-ray departments. They went out of their way to be helpful, and are especially good in dealing with frightened children.

Had to bring my 5 year old in for an x-ray on a Saturday. I can't say enough nice things about the staff here. With radiology unexpectedly closed I had to work my way over to the ER to find someone to help. They took the time, outside their normal scope of duties, to track down the right people and get my son's x-ray set up. Not surprisingly my 5 year old wasn't too thrilled with the idea of an x-ray. The radiology staff totally understood and was patient and calmly helped him out. The facilities have recently been upgraded with its inclusion in the USC medical system. Nobody loves going to the hospital, but if you have to, I highly recommend USC Verdugo Hills
