Timber Ridge Treatment Center provides an exceptional wilderness experience to rehabilitate troubled males from 12 to 17 years of age. Located on 187 acres near the Uwharrie Forest in North Carolina, its program takes an ecologically-oriented, positive peer group approach to treatment. Adventure activities include hiking, backpacking and canoeing, all supervised by certified facilitators. The average stay is 10 to 12 months. Timber Ridge services include substance abuse counseling, speech therapy and family counseling. Timber Ridge was founded in 1993 by Tom and Laurie Hibbert. Timber Ridge is accredited by the Joint Commission of Health Care Organizations, licensed by the North Carolina Department of Facility Services and accredited by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Timber Ridge is a registered private school with North Carolina certified teachers and school credits are transferable.
