Firstly, I should say that fundamentally it was my (the customer) fault that the job didn’t turn out as I expected. I accepted Royal Brick Pavers to do the job on the basis of a casually performed estimate and conversations – as opposed to writing a professional contract, with specification, requirements, payment schedule, and penalty clauses. Don’t kid yourself, when dealing with contractors no job is too small for a complete, iron-clad contract. Anyway, Royal paved parts of the front yards and put in a patio in the backyard. The person representing Royal went around and promised they would do this area and that area, and they would move sprinklers, and cut plants, and put in drains where needed. Curiously, this all sounded too good, since with every little addition and regardless of the type of pavers selected, the Royal representative based his entire price only on the square footage.
