Mezcal’s food bursts with flavor, this is literally one of the best Mexican restaurants around.....

Whenever we spot a new Mexican restaurant we try most we see & compare them to the “Mezcal Standards”. Mezcal is located on Route 57 that runs through Grafton, Ohio. There’s plenty of parking. They don’t have all the glamour of some Mexican spots, but the decor is comfortable - matching the casual atmosphere. We’ve been coming to Mezcal for over 12 years, & we consider ourselves loyal customers - due in large part to The consistently great food & personalized service. It’s a high spirited restaurant, but not noisy, and Mezcal serves all types of groups with couples, families, or friends interacting over great food & drinks.

We usually start off with extra tall draft cervezas (borrador Amber Dos Equis XX, Pacifico, Modelo, & more), mojitos, or margaritas, while we enjoy the complimentary tortilla chips & awesome salsa. We usually order a bowl of their famous white quest cheese sauce & also order a bowl of their absolutely phenomenal fresh/smooth guacamole dip. Our order is predictable most nights, but this Friday we tried the beef soft tacos for the children, cheese quesadillas with a side of salsa verde, & the chimichangas platter. The platter includes Spanish rice & refried beans both excellent. We like the rice so much that we usually order an extra side or two (2) to share. Everything was delicious. The most exceptional part of any meal is their flavorful ground beef, which must be cooked, drained, & then seasoned, because the fat & grease is rendered away but not the great taste. I highly recommend a beef dish, if even just the covered tortillas chips (nachos, beef, & cheese). Our favorite menu item is the Mezcal quesadilla or fajitas quesadilla platters. All desserts are great too!

There’s usually no wait, & you’re seated immediately. Mezcal has separate bar seating or the main dining room with booths, large booths, as well as small & big tables. Service is top notch, seriously the best. The staff hustles to serve your needs, & management also makes rounds to check on guests frequently. Food prep time is amazingly short; the food arrives fast & plated beautifully. I honestly cannot figure out how they do what they do so quickly, with such efficiency, & with the measurable efficacy of great tastes. The price is reasonable, sample receipt attached, & make sure you request a loyalty punch card to earn money off. Over the years, we’ve dined at Mezcal so much that the staff tells us, “¡te veremos mañana!”

Another favorite is the huevos chorizo ranchero platter, which is a mix of scrambled egg & spicy sausage (their chorizo is also the bomb). Everything that I have tried here was on point, except a meal to avoid is the bbq burrito - a large carnitas burrito smothered in bbq sauce & served with fried as a platter - it just didn’t have that Mezcal pizazz!

Mezcal has thee best & most professional staff from Fernando, who has managed at Grafton for over a decade to long-time server Victor to the newer guy, Jesus. All of Mezcal’s people are always attentive, high spirited, and personable.

Mezcal’s food remains unmatched in their niche of Mexican/Californian food space. Today, we tried the Carne Con Queso Dip, the Smooth Guacamole Dip Bowl, & the Queso Cheese Dip. Then for our meal we shared the Vegetarian E platter with a bean burrito, cheese enchilada, & cheese quesadilla. We also ordered five (5) Beef Soft Tacos. Everything was excellent as usual. If you want great service & a quick bite of deliciousness, Mezcal is the spot to stop.

Food is generally good. Chorizo dishes are very good and the pork dishes delicious. Margaritas are a good size and tasty.

Food is tasteless and when I want a drink I want to taste the flavors not ALL ALCOHOL. Tasted like gasoline.
