The Granbury Police Department works to safeguard the lives and property of residents, businesses and visitors, as well as maintains social law and order. It operates an animal control division that undertakes issues related to animal bites, barking dogs and missing animals, as well as relocates stray animals. The department also hosts a citizens police academy and a ride along program. The Granbury Police Department has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and employs an honor guard.
