Worst company ever

This company is the only company that services hood county and it is by far the rudest, uneducated, most expensive electric company ever! They do not know how to run a business and charge outrageously. I wish we had another option

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

If you are considering purchasing or renting a home in any area where Tri-County holds a monopoly, RUN. Run as fast as you can to ANY other area, where you're not stuck at the mercy of this lousy company with its lousy ironclad policies hidden behind a thin and very fake veneer of "hey you're a part owner!" The only thing you'll share ownership of is the collective misery of its forced customers.

Remember the miserable days when it was TXU or nothing? If you enjoyed them, then this area is for you. Horrible customer service. No notices of cut-off dates. Oh, and by the way, don't ever, EVER have a bad financial month, because TCEC's cut-off is always LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER YOUR BILL DUE DATE. That's it. That's all the breathinv room you get. Don't bother calling to ask for a few days' extension - they don't give them. At. All. Not so much as 24 hours. Unless you've already been an unwilling customer for over 12 months AND never been ONE DAY LATE in that 12 months. Have a single one-day-late payment (not even a cutoff, just a day past the due date) and your year long of proving yourself worthy of consideration for a minor extension resets at zero.

I've never even HEARD of any utility company of any kind that refuses its customers even a few days' extensions, does not give notice of cutoffs that take place less than TWO WEEKS after the bill due date, or had to deal with colder, more unfeeling, uncaring people. If you're one of those people who have a medical block on being cut off, you'd best be dying too. I have a major vascular condition that requires the use of electric compression cuffs on my legs at least 12 hours per day. They don't give a rip. So I've had to go pawn my wedding ring repeatedly to pay our bill - which is due right at the start of the month along with EVERY OTHER bill we have - because TCEC is the ONLY provider we have that refuses to give us even three extra days to get to my husband's next paycheck.

We are counting the days until our lease here is up and we can get away, not from the house we love or the neighborhood and schools our kids adore, but the electric "co-op" (what a joke, when they are the least cooperative thing on the PLANET) we are stuck with here.
