The Mesa County Sheriff's Office enforces law and order and offers services for public safety and crime prevention. Its operations and tasks include serving civil papers, providing courthouse security, transporting inmates, wild land fire fighting, and search and rescue. The office operates support services, law enforcement and jail operations divisions. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office provides community-based programs and prevention tips for burglaries, robberies, home protection, identity theft, consumer fraud, and lottery and Nigerian scams. In addition, the department, through its public safety unit, offers victim's assistance, community policing, and patrol and rescue operations. It maintains an office in Grand Junction, Colo.
