In regards to the Alder Cabin managed by Grand Mountain Rentals, please look elsewhere. You can find better lodging than this place. The cabin is advertised as an authentic cabin, well rustic doesn't mean it has to be rundown, which is exactly how the Alder Cabin feels. I will go room to room with its shortcomings and the overall condition of the cabin. The kitchen had a large hole in the wall, where it looked like somebody ran a conduit for a light fixture, the flooring was buckling in front of the sink and the only storage was in the refrigerator or on a little table, the cabinet were filled with cookware and dishes. The bathroom was in good shape except for a thin accordion style door, which doesn't provide much privacy. The tub seems dangerous with a very high step to get into or out of, with no grab bars available. There is a large area of the second bedrooms ceiling which is sagging over the bed. The main bedroom was very stuffy, not a lot of air circulation in the cabin, having access to a fan would of made it more comfortable. The pillows provided were disgusting, they smelled of sweat and dirty hair and they were horribly stain, which I found out after I took off the double pillowcases. The tile on the floor under the fireplace was filthy and the border tiles were missing or loose. The general condition of the furniture was again smelly and threadbare, we didn't feel comfortable sitting on it until we covered it with a blanket from our car. The carpeting was very stained and worn. This is just an example of some of the conditions, which I have documented with pictures. Also be aware that your view from the porch is of a little wooded front yard, a road and the community dumpster.Please look elsewhere if you want to stay in Grand Lake,
