Grand Marais Art Colony
120 3rd Ave W, Grand Marais, MN 55604
The Grand Marais Art Colony serves as a catalyst for the arts in the Great Lakes Region, supporting artists through residencies, intensive and mentoring classes, as well as signature events. We all need a starting point, whether launching a canoe into the Boundary Waters or picking up a paint brush for the first time. Our Entry Points program provides opportunities for people of various ages and skill levels to attend artist talks, demonstrations, and mini-classes. Our classes provide immersive mentoring experiences for beginners to established artists. Classes primarily run from May to September in two-dimensional arts, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and literary arts. We provide artists with independent work space and time to develop new works by allowing for aesthetic inquiry and experimentation while hosting a variety of community engagement activities with residents. The primary residency season is October - April. The Grand Marais Art Colony serves as a catalyst for the arts in the Great Lakes Region, supporting artists through residencies, intensive and mentoring classes, as well as signature events. Provided by YP.comI had a great class. What an inspiring location. Its in a really cool old church building. The administrators were also fun to talk with and very helpful. Grand Marais, what a great town, so many cool stores and great restaurants. I had a great breakfast at the Blue Water Cafe, an old time diner, would be good with kids. I loved the pizza at Sven & Oles, would also be good for kids. I drank some good regional micro brews and a great dinner at the Gunflint Tavern, a very eclectic menu. I was told that there are many other good restaurants here.
