After agonizing for so long about whether to have a home birth, my partner and I interviewed Yolanda. Her calm presence, confidence in and love for her work, and honest communication helped us make the decision to invite her to be our midwife. She is attentive and provides excellent personal attention; she is extremely respectful of our persons and our desires for the birth. She emphasizes nutrition, natural birth, and education. We were at first a bit anxious about the price, but after figuring out that we'd be paying only $600 more after insurance, money was no longer a reason NOT to explore this option in birthing-- all to say that we'd rather our money go to a person than an insurance company. After sharing with some people in our circle that we're having a home birth with Yolanda, we've heard wonderful things about her-- apparently she's THE midwife in the Grand Rapids area!
