I went to DeVries on advice from a jewelry department employee of Meijer to see if they could shorten my Mom's wristwatch band. Mom is 93 and has very small wrists. I was expecting to pay 5 or 7 dollars. The store was busy because it was the eve of Christmas Eve. It took a while to get one of the busy workers to wait on me - about 40 seconds. The guy said it was a tough one and he would rather have had my Mom there to size it correctly. He took out the number of links that I had estimated. That took a while too - about 10 or 15 minutes. He put the expensive watch (around $20 from Meijer) in a small plastic bag with the extra links he removed. He said if he had to add links back on it could be done. When I asked how much I owed he said "Merry Christmas". I had dust in my eyes so it was hard to say Merry Christmas back to him. This place is terrible.
