The Grand Rapids Wastewater Treatment Plant covers a geographical area of more than 200 square miles with over 1,000 miles of collection pipes. It serves nearly 300,000 customers from the city of Grand Rapids in Michigan, and more than 10 surrounding cities and townships. The Grand Rapids Wastewater Treatment Plant s treatment is comprised of primary clarification, anaerobic digestion and drying beds. It dewaters biosolids and transports those to local landfills through its network of conveyors and augers. The plant performs disinfection by utilizing ultraviolet light. The Grand Rapids Wastewater Treatment Plant s facilities include bar screens, aerated grit channels, primary clarifiers, fine bubble diffusers, ultraviolet disinfection equipment, and dewatering and loading space.
