The all-important patient-physician bond involves a bit of alchemy. Dr. Pace calls it “the art of medicine.” In his mind, nurturing trust while easing anxieties in the men and women who come to him for treatment of bladder tumors, kidney stones and other urologic issues begins with open and thoughtful communication. “I sit down and talk with them,” he says. “We usually end up having a great discussion. I try to let them know that I will help them get through whatever it is they are dealing with.” Dr. Pace knew at a young age that he wanted to be a physician. “I like to help people,” he says. “Being able to help improve someone’s life is really rewarding.” While in medical school at State University of New York at Buffalo, Dr. Pace found the diversity of patient cases and surgical procedures interesting during a rotation in urology. The native New Yorker moved to Dallas for his internship and residency in general surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He stayed in Dallas to complete a residency in urology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. With nearly two decades of experience as a general urologist, Dr. Pace successfully treats patients with kidney stones, bladder tumors, and other urologic issues. As a founder of Urology Partners, he’s glad to be part of a practice dedicated to making the patient experience better. “All of my patients help make me a better physician,” he notes. When he isn’t caring for patients, Dr. Pace enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He and his family live in North Richland Hills.
