We ate here when we visited my brother in Grass Valley. They has tasty chips and salsa. wonderful margaritas, and good combination plates with enchiladas, tacos, etc.

Good Mexican Food

I ate there recently and thought it was good. They always seem to be busy.

Going downhill fast

Maria's used to be a great place to eat Mexican food in Grass Valley. The portions were adequate, the service was great and the price a little high but reasonable.

Approximately 1 year ago we noticed that the food became a little less that good. For incidence the Veggie Burrito is big and contains beans, avacado, sour cream, etc. For some reason the cooks stopped putting the avacados and sour cream in an adequate amount. Some times when we were finished I would ask for my refill of coke to be put in a "to go" cup which was always done. The last time I asked I was told that I would have to pay for the coke because they stopped doing that. They would rather have you get your refill and sit there taking up space so other customers would have to wait for the table while you drank your coke.

We quit going for about 4 months and decided to give them another chance. Same problem, little or no avacado in the burrito, no sour cream.

Another annoyance is that the managers always look like they just sucked on a lemon, never smile, (Especially the little guy), and give you the impression that they are doing you a favor by letting you in.

There are several good servers, Sonya is great, but that doesn't make up for the poorly prepared food. Sorry Maria's but you have lost a pretty good customer.

Fun place!

Fun restaurant--great food --check the specials board when you come in--the specials rock!! Restaurant gets really crowded, but the wait is never long.
