On December 26, 2008 I had a laparosopic-assisted total hysterectomy by Dr. Retherford. The whole experience was so easy, I only took Tylenol for pain immediately after and for three days post op, but can honestly say I really wasn't in any pain. I had two tiny incisions out by my hip bones and one in the belly button, it is very difficult to find these now. I was back walking three days post op and walking a mile by the end of the first week, two miles by the end of the second week. I was back to work in four weeks. I haven't felt this good for many years. I wish I had done this years ago. Dr. Retherford and his office were very professional and caring and I have recommended him to several friends. He listened to me and respected my wishes to use only Tylenol (other pain meds make me very sick) and my recovery was so fast and easy. I also had a very good experience in Sierra Memorial Hospital, where they have a Women's ward which was quiet, (I had a nice big room all to myself) The nurses were caring and always on hand for any problems or concerns. If you are considering having a hysterectomy, go and see Dr. Retherford.
