Hats off to my beloved wife who found this place for our (my!) surprise 24th Anniversary Dinner. I am always looking for a new place to dine, and I had no idea a place like this existed near Green Bay. Within the metro, there are several higher class eating establishments, but once outside the beltway, I always thought its usually off to the next city for a new place.....I was wrong!

Literally hidden from common sight along SHT 57 just north of the Green Bay city limits and Wequiock Falls is The English Inn - sister to its Door County location. Unless you are looking for the sign to the west (along Bay Settlement Road), you could easily miss it! While having a slightly lackluster façade towards the highway, the inside and back patio await with an elegant award of ambience for anyone with the intent or fortune to happen by!

The simple yet sophisticated looking and feeling interior includes a medium sized dining area with a presence making chandelier, and a warm and spacious bar. The back windows give a very open feeling as you catch a beautiful view of the back patio (with table inserted fire pits!), the fish pond with dual wine barrel fountains, lit decorator trees, the beautiful woods, and sometimes the bay itself. The quiet atmosphere is only broken by classic jazz and crooner music (and the occasional kicking in of the AC unit - which is the ONLY downside I could find here!).

Diners on a budget may want to scope out the Subway and BP just across the highway. But if ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS dinners starting around $20 is in your plans, you win! They also have an extensive cocktail and wine list to choose your beverages.

This is FIRST and ONLY time we have wait staff place our napkins in our laps for us....very nice touch of elegance. And on that note, kudo's to Kellie - an absolutely fabulous, personal, and professional waitress. Your lucky night if she is overseeing your table! Great Job, Kellie!

On our visit, my wife opted for the Beef Wellington while I went for the Almond Encrusted Halibut with a side of Grilled Shrimp. Both included soup/salad and potato options, along with freshly baked and half sliced bread. My wife loved her salad while I enjoyed a piping hot bowl of French Onion soup. All of our meal elements were hot upon arrival to the table, deliciously prepared, and beautifully presented. My baked potato had a smoky flavor quality to the skin that I found delicious and unique. My wife absolutely loved her Wellington. Portions were excellent. Some of the Wellington made it home while I finished the final bite of my experience just as the full button was going off in my appetite.

Had it not rained, I would have offered you more on the porch experience, but that will have to wait until next time. And there will be a next time - soon I hope!

My budget would not hold for a nightly or weekly stop here, but such a place I personally want to reserve for some more special and romantic occasions anyway. We have done such locations as the Republic Chophouse and The Black & Tan,and enjoyed both. The English Inn - Green Bay however takes the stage from both with its quiet out of the way location, warm and romantic atmosphere, and a personal table service that is going to be hard to beat!

Open 4pm to 10pm daily!

Where is Gordon Ramsey to check this one out? Other than the atmosphere, I haven't got one good thing to say about the food. We just were there for Father's day and the food here took away from what should have been a good meal. The Beef Wellington, ordered medium it was very well done, duck was dry, pork chop overdone couldn't even put a fork in it, ribeyes overdone, soup had plastic pieces from a cut plastic bag, potatoes were cold, northing for a young person with dairy allergies on menu. The servers was very nice but overworked as the place was very understaffed. No call back to check to see if food was done correctly nor to check if we needed more drinks. The food is very, very much overpriced for what we got. I would not recommend this place to anyone nor will we ever visit there again.

Terrible

My boyfriend and I go out every Thursday for a nice dinner. We decided to try the English Inn. My boyfriend ordered a steak, it was way over done and had no flavor. I ordered king crab legs. They were extremely small and freezing cold and bland. Not only were ours meals not good, they are over priced. Save your money.
