My 383 looks and runs great. The problem is it was sent with a 670 brawler carb and the receipt said I was getting a 870 holley. After about 3 weeks of trying to tune it I had to buy a bigger demon carb and was finally able to tune it properly. The two times I politely called them with a couple simple questions I felt extremely rushed. Also they advertise financing yet they don't actually offer financing. They offer layaway but do not specify that untill after they make the sell. Over all I'm happy with the engine so far but unfortunately I would consider looking elsewhere.

I really had a great experience dealing with Hot Rod Company when I purchased my 383 stroker Small block Chevy from them. First off it’s an absolutely beautiful engine with more than enough power for my Corvette. Second the people at Hot Rod Company answered every question or concern I had about the build without hesitation. Very honest people about what you can expect. They have a large operation and probably build and sell a couple hundred engines a year but always answered the phone and explained what stage my engine was atin the build process. Super sales team and knowledgeable. You can’t go wrong with choosing them for your hot rod!

I purchased a 383 stroker from HRS about 3 years ago and let me tell you it is one bad ass motor. I have about 4,000 miles on this motor and it runs like the day I bought it.The rumble and performance is everything I wanted.It is definitely a tire melter . I highly recommend these guys.

I purchased a 383 stroker, I too was very skeptical and non trusting at first. "at no fault to hrc" I just was afraid of getting burned. I went ahead and made my purchase and TRUE to their word received my engine in a timely manner. Now, me having trust issues inspected their work and parts once I received the engine. Every thing was exactly as stated. I just have my professional mechanic do the engine swap in my 1971 Nova and my VERY PICKY mechanic was happy with their build and following proper break in the engine runs great! We used the proper stall converter that Jim said to use and rear gear. The engine idles properly in gear and doesn't load up. Now to all of you people that saw a bad review online about HRC... No one is perfect, that being said do your homework and make sure everything will fit first and don't be an asshole to them, and from what I have seen if you do have an issue they will take care of it. These guys are NOT scammers and they do care about this business. If you are reluctant to buy and engine from them, don't be. They do what they say, and my engine came properly packed not a scratch on it and I am one picky SOB!!! THANKS JIM AND TJ FOR PROVIDING GOOD WORKMANSHIP AT FAIR PRICES. I WILL BE BUYING AGAIN!!

once they get your down payment they forget who you are.....this is a true internet scam company....

I purchased a 383 "stroker" from Jim and the guys. The build was of great quality and was almost a complete "plug'n play. The craftsmanship is great and Jim has been so easy to work with in all areas. Thanks Jim.

I have bought a set of aluminum heads and a 355 engine from Jim.Got the heads on and he walked me through getting them set. Sounds and runs great. Can’t wait to get the 355 cranked over once it’s all together in my 65 Chevy 2. Great people to work with. Very knowledgeable.

Excellent looking engine! Sounds great and it arrived fast! Everything on this engine is top notch! Installed it into my 1955 Lincoln Mercury Capri!! What a beast!!!

Great motor. Couldn't be happier with the performance, appearance, or how it sounds from idle to full throttle. Had to buy drag radials to keep it from going sideways. Received motor in a timely manner. Good customer service, had a few questions after I received the motor and got prompt responses to my questions. Would definitely purchase from them again...

Found them on Ebay and just liked how they would work with you to get the build right....in every detail...matching the cam to the rear end gear ratio and the converter stall...not any of the other builders went into that much detail to make sure the build was right...making you happy is number one for them and I am very happy with the build

Found Jim through Ebay. After I purchased my engine I was looking around on line and found a lot of negative reviews. I called and requested to cancel my order. I was told the order was already at the shipping facility. Jim guaranteed that I would love it once I received it. I received my engine in September. The engine looked great once it arrived. Crate was well put together. Fast forward to April 8th. I started the engine as per Jim's break in procedures and it stared right up and sounded great with my new exhaust. Jim builds a reputable engine. Just pay attention to what is included and ask questions before you purchase. Unfortunately for him I believe he is a victim of a couple bad reviews. My experience has been top notch.

Motor and trans was everything he said it would be. Color was perfect. I luv it. Can't believe how easy it was to make my car run and drive this nice. Thanks so much for making my dream car a reality

the 383 stroker motor I bought last year is one of the best motors I have bought , I have bought three 383 stroker motors in the last 4 years and this one is the best built one I have bought. from now on i buy my motors from hot rod company and so will my car club buddy's... five stars all the way ....
