The Greendale Police Department works to safeguard the lives and property of residents, businesses and visitors, as well as maintains social law and order. It is comprised of more than 30 full- and part-time sworn and nonsworn officers. The department operates administration and patrol divisions and detective and juvenile bureaus. The Greendale Police Department provides various community policing programs that include home security checks, neighborhood and business watch and school liaison programs. It enforces traffic laws and investigates and responds to citizens complaints. The department has a communication center that responds to police, fire, and medical emergency and nonemergency calls. The Greendale Police Department maintains a sex offender registry and operates a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. Located in Greendale, Wis., the department also supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program.
