Provided by YP.comPlease don't take your pet here if you love them these people are all about money took my dog here she was urinating blood all they cared about is what I would be willing to pay for after I said I would wave the fee for the results and let my vet read them they really became rude. 200.00 for an ultrasound test and I have to pay another 100.00 to have them read to me
This place is really pathetic, listen to all the reviews that have 1 star they are NOT lying. Going to contact the BBB and then call Madison and find out about this place.Stay away from here.

Provided by YP.comThis animal hospital is all about the business of making money only, and not about the well being of the animals. I read very similar reviews to my exact experience and I am saddened to have put my baby through such a horrible experience which ultimately lead to her passing. I wish I had read the reviews first because I wouldn’t have chosen this hospital. I am an avid animal lover and my dogs are treated as part of the family. I have owned 4 dogs throughout my lifetime and never once came across such a place as this during such a vulnerable time in my dog’s life. As another reviewer stated it was a haunting experience that I wish no future dog lover or any other animal and their human to have to live with.
** - Short summary, if you walk in the doors of Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals (MECA) you will be pressured to hospitalize your animal regardless if it will actually help your animal or save your animal, you will be told that they need to run a number of costly, unnecessary diagnostic tests, medication prescriptions will be written that they will fill without regard of the side effects to your dog, and they will do this all with advising you to open a line of credit through Care Credit Card (oh yeah, it’s so easy that they will phone in your application for you right there for your convenience.) Once they know your credit limit you’re done. They will tell you repeatedly that your animal needs their services regardless if this is a true statement or not. They definitely prey on the animal lover, as well as, the dog that needs to be laid to rest. My dog was sick and was going to die regardless of what they did to try to save her due to old age and her multiple diseases that they uncovered. They were not upfront with their knowledge, they misrepresented the fact that my dog would survive, and racked up over $4,000.00 worth of vet bills by telling me she was going to die and wouldn’t live through the weekend if I didn’t commit her to their hospital right then – even though I repeatedly told them no I need time to think and need to leave with my dog. If you can believe it the bill would have been thousands of dollars more but I pulled my dog out after her initial hospital stay there to tend to her at home and move her to new professional care under Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists (LVS). LVS is my one and only recommendation for anyone that has an animal that needs an ER or 24 hour care.

Provided by YP.comAt 0300 am we knew we would not be bringing Maggie (17 years old, and very sick) home. we called the clinic to tell them we were coming. They were waiting at the door for us. After a quick check up by Dr. Lindsey Foster she reassured us that our decision was the most humane. Everyone there made the best they could out of a bad situation. Everyone there was very professional and compassionate. They were very prompt in notifying our vet of Maggie's condition and that she was euthanized. I would be very comfortable going there again, and recommend to family and friends.

Provided by YP.comPathetic. Wanted cc and payment for $92.00 to examine a pregnant rabbit. Find any other vet possible. These people are rip off artists preying on people's love for animals.

Provided by YP.comNEGLIGENT. THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PERMANENT DAMAGE TO OUR PUPPY. She had a fall on a Sat. night and we took her here. First they put us in an exam room, took her for X-rays, and FORGOT ABOUT US. They said we'd be waiting 20 minutes -- more than an hour later my husband had to go find them, and they had no idea we were even still there! Then they COMPLETELY misread the X-rays and told us she had a sprain. We asked them to send the X-rays to our primary vet, which they said they would, but never did. When our vet finally got a look at the X-rays three weeks later -- when it was clear something was still wrong and we got the X-rays ourselves -- it only took him two seconds to see she had a BROKEN ELBOW. Now our options are to pay for a super-expensive, extensive surgery involving rebreaking her elbow, or we accept our puppy will never have full use of her leg again. Glad we paid exorbitant prices and waited four hours for them to leave her puppy with a permanent handicap!!

Provided by YP.comVery neat and organized. Although when I arrived at the place I was given a paper to sign and the fee was $150, very over priced. Not to mention the X-Rays alone was $200. This is a good place if you have money in your hand.

Provided by YP.comI recently adopted a dog that was considered “aggressive,” but I saw potential in her, so wanted to do my best to save her. I was referred to the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals by a friend. I made an appointment with Dr. Lichtenberger for a general exam and was so happy with the care and time she took with my Macy. She then made an appt. for me with their pet behaviorist Dr. Kohler. Wow! She has done wonders with my girl! She is so much calmer and happier now. I am completely amazed!

Provided by YP.comI had an emergency with my German Shepherd about a week ago and the Milwaukee Center for Animals was the only vet open at 11:00 at night. He had swallowed something and was gagging. I was so scared I was going to lose him. They did x-rays and found he has eaten a rock. They were able to safely help him pass it and he is now home safe. I am so grateful to everyone there who helped. They were all amazing.

Provided by YP.comI just got a new puppy and was having trouble housetraining him. I also needed help socializing him, as he seemed afraid of other dogs. I had already tried out two trainers, but really had trouble with their advice (or lack thereof). I went to the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals and met with their pet behaviorist Minette Kohler. I am so glad I did! She actually gave me training tips and easy things to do that work for both of us! I can’t say enough good about them. Their staff and vets are all awesome!

Provided by YP.comI wanted to take the time to write a review about the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals. I have only had good experiences here and have always been pleased with their care, patience and the time they have taken on every occasion to explain things thoroughly to me. I could not have asked for me. Thank you!

Provided by YP.comI have a brother who has been with the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals for about three years and has had great experiences with them. I just moved to the area and took my dog Foster to them for a general check-up. I was nothing less than pleased with everything...the receptionist...the vet...everyone. I am not even considering going anywhere else.

Provided by YP.comMy cat Tandy was diagnosed with cancer by another vet who did not have the expertise to provide care instructions or even a plan for treatment. I took her to the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals and they alleviated my fears, provided me with a plan and I can say...because of them, she has a fighting chance. I am so glad I found them...

Provided by YP.comThere are very few vets who I would trust with my pets and Dr. Lichtenberger is absolutely one of them. I have had my fair share of bad experiences, but never with MECA. They have consistently provided the very best of care for my furry family members. I have and will continue to recommend them.

Provided by YP.comMECA provides some of the best care in the area. I have never been anything, but happy with the care they have provided to my three pets, which include a dog, cat and rabbit. I will never go anywhere else!

Provided by YP.comI have several exotic pets and was looking for a vet who had the expertise to provide veterinary care for them. This is a rare knowledge that the majority of vets don't have, since most only care for domesticated animals. I was pleased to find out that the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals DOES have this knowledge...and a wealth of it! So glad to have found them!

Provided by YP.comThank you, MECA for giving my Lab Maddie the best care I could ask for. I have been to several other vet practices in Wisconsin and your staff is incredible. I will recommend you to everyone I know!

Provided by YP.comI have tried several different vet practices in and around the Milwaukee area. The Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals was far and above all the others for several reasons. From the staff to the vet, they are all patient, kind and caring. They genuinely care about the animal and have their best interests at heart. Don't settle for less. This vet practice is second to none!

Provided by YP.comIn an effort to find a reputable, caring, compassionate vet care hospital for my two cats and Labrador, I did a lot of researching, which included asking around to people in the local area. I heard amazing things about The Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals from friends and several coworkers. I can tell you I had high hopes, but after taking my pets for their check-ups, as well as getting special help for my aging Lab Milly, I could not have been more pleased. They are not only everything I was hoping for, but far exceeded my expectations. The staff was so kind and helpful and the veterinary staff is exceptionally knowledgeable. I will go nowhere else. If you care about your animals...this is the place for you.
