Dr. Southerland and his staff have been my medical team since I was a teenager. I am now 38 years old, and still consider him "my doctor" even though I have moved to a place that is an hour's drive away from him. He is SO excellent. He is the most caring doctor I ever had, and I wish I lived closer now, so that I could continue seeing him more regularly! I think the one thing I could say about him, that is better than any other general physician I ever met, is that he is willing to take time with you, no matter how busy a day he is having. He will comfort you, you ALWAYS feel cared about, and you know you're getting excellent medical advice from him. There are other great doctors, but not all of them have his "bedside manner"... he treats you as if you were his own family member, and you always get the impression that he cares about you that way. It's because he does care that way. I had a brain aneurysm rupture in 2000, the emergency room staff kept telling me it was "just a migraine headache"... my family insisted that they call Dr. Southerland. Dr. Southerland paid attention, and I feel lucky that he did, because I was then rushed to a bigger hospital by helicopter, and I got the care and surgery that I needed! Excellent care.
