My passion is to help people. I chose my career and life commitment in the field of obstetrics and gynecology to help make a difference in women's and children's lives. It is a blessing to be able to help women through the birthing process and throughout life. I also have a passion for pelvic reconstructive surgery and treating urinary incontinence. \n My approach to healthcare is to get the mind, body and soul to work together in harmony first. I am a partner with my patients in treating their healthcare issues, and I perform thorough evaluations and care plans. I use the latest in medical technology and surgical procedures to help create the very best outcomes and patient experiences. \n After years of training and dedication, I have become recognized internationally for my work developing videos, simulations and mobile apps to help train residents and surgeons how to perform laparoscopic hysterectomies, retropubic slings and other advanced gynecologic procedures. My writings on the topic have been published by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and I have presented my work in this area to medical societies and conferences on four continents. \n I am the recipient of five National Institutes of Health research grants for surgical innovation and have served as a clinical instructor at the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Wake Forest University since 1994. \n Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in the great outdoors with my wife of over 30 years and three kids. Whether it is the Blue Ridge Parkway or the beaches of Wilmington, it feels wonderful to be a part of Mother Nature. I enjoy snow skiing and was an instructor in a past life (as a teenager) and am passionate about fishing in both fresh and saltwater.
