I visited Dr. Patricia A Giuffre at the greenwood village clinic for a bleeding during 2 month of my pregnancy. She did ultra sound and said that it is a miscarriage . however this was not the end of it , looks like she was not sure of what she was seeing when the ultra sound was done so she called me again and made another doctor do the ultra sound(I was charged twice for this service). So then i was told that I may have an ectopic pregnancy of which again they were not sure of so they drew my blood twice at the clinic. The blood work returned showed a good level(apx 2000 as per doctor) of hormones (mind you as per many white papers i read after undergoing the miscarriage its normal to have hormone in apx 1800-2000 range during the bleeding time). However the doctor seemed to have very less knowledge of this and what she decided was to send me to an ER for further blood work . She is a visiting doctor at this hospital where she decides to send me for blood work. I go for a blood work to the ER (who were suppose to have specific instructions form doctor to do a blood work n call her with the hormones level data) . I ,under the impression that its a blood work enter the ER and was shocked to see that they put a perfectly healthy body of mine under IV and BP monitors in an ER room ..all confused i patiently waited to get my blood work result done which came normal (dropped to apx 900 from 2000 (that doctor Guifree told me 12-14 hours before) in less than 12 hours of time, which is obvious as per the zillion article n white paper i read) I returned to work with a sigh of relief.---Billing -- But this was not it ..i get a bill from doctors office which shows that I was charged twice for the ultra sound which she did twice because she was not sure what she was to look for …additional to this the ER sends me a huge bill of $3100 for all the ER services (which I did not even require as per Dr. Giuffre I was sent to ER for just lab work. I called the doctor’s office after I received the ER bill and got a confirmation that I was sent there only for lab work . after I got the confirmation I called ER and to my surprise they told me there was no order from Dr. Giuffre’s office to do lab work if she would have sent that order the hospital would have done the lab work only . I called the doctor’s office again and this time they tell me that “ohhh doctor called the ER and told u were coming , she did not really send any order “ !!! I was shocked to hear this and was left helpless to make the huge payment to the ER.. Mind you I had to pay $405 out of pocket in spite of having an awesome insurance coverage. I felt cheated and not satisfied with the services I was rendered . I heard a friend share similar experience and poor girl had a miscarriage in 4th month , off course the doctor said “I don’t know how it happened “ ..Dr. Giuffre was her doctor for 4 months with regular visits she should have known if something was happening in there.. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DR. Giuffre to any of my friends .Would say: i will never revisit did not get what i paid for Doctors office was not very informative or supportive
