My son is leaving for AIR FORCE basic training on Monday morning. The gym was notified in person as well as in writing of this fact. They are REFUSING to terminate his membership in direct violation of the SSCRA Act. SOMEONE needs to do something about this place!!! They claim that he must recontact them after BASIC & tell them where he's going. I explained the AIR FORCE sends you DIRECTLY to tech school on a bus or plane - you are NOT ALLOWED to go out & find a gym! Plus according to the law, it states that servicemen are protected from their FIRST DAY OF DUTY - which begins the first day of basic training.

The equipment at this gym is good for the most part. There is a decent selction of free weights, weight machines and cardio equipment. The real problem with this gym is the amount of people. If you're not one who goes to the gym after work it may be ok. If you do plan on going after work this is not the gym for you. It is so packed Monday throug Thursday from 5-7 that you can barely move and you have to take whatever happens to be available rather than being able to choose a workout. They'll tell you that they cap their total members to prevent overcrowding but yet as overcrowded as it is they are still touring the place to a handful of potential new members every night.

Bottom Line: If you plan on working out in the evenings just be sure you know what your getting into before you get stuck in a two year contract like I did.

Be aware of hidden fees.

This is an excellent facility with great equipment. However, I do feel that people should be cautious about what is included in their membership. This is my experience. I went to the Cherrydale gym before the Greer one was open, because I saw the Greer gym being constructed; therefore, I was interested. This was in October of 2007. I was told that the new gym in Greer would be open around November 2007, and that I would be allowed to use the gym at Cherrydale until they opened. I was also given the impression that the new gym would have massage beds, saunas, and karate classes that would be a part of the membership that I purchased. Well, the Greer gym did not open until March 2008. I did have access to use the Cherrydale gym until then, but I do not get access to the amenities that I thought that I would. There are additional fees for the sauna and the massage bed that I was not made aware of when speaking with the salesman. The sauna is an additional $5.00 per session (one use) and the massage bed is an additional $20.00 a month for ten thirty minute sessions. As of this writing, the karate classes have not started but I am expecting additional fees for that. Just be aware of that and be sure that you discuss it with the salesman before signing a contract. I will compliment the cardio equipment that has large personal screen TV's and there is access to the gym 24 hours, any day of the week. So far, it has remained clean. The facility also has lockers with locks. This gym does use key access and uses video surveillance; moreover, the security is good. Overall I am pleased with the facility.

While I greatly appreciate the good things the above reviewer said about our Greer club, I felt the need to clarify a few things he spoke of in criticism of us: 1) Our projected opening dates that we gave our customers were entirely based on the dates given to us by the company constructing our new site. As time went on, our projected opening date was pushed back further and further. This was something that was totally beyond our control and we were at the complete mercy of the construction company. We were originally told the property would be delivered to us on July 1, 2007. It was not delivered to us until March 3, 2008. Most new constructions of businesses are completed in less than 3 months. This was not something we could have foreseen, but most certainly wish we had. 2) The sauna is only an additional $5 per session if you do not want to purchase a package, and instead, pay a per session price. We offer a variety of services at our Greer store that can be purchased with your membership for additional fees, depending on what services you prefer. We offer tanning, sauna/jacuzzi showers, or the massage bed. Due to the fact that not everyone wishes to have these services and that this equipment is very high-end, we offer customers the ability to purchase basic membership with the ability to add on the services they want. 3) Classes: We currently offer free classes to our members at our Greer store, kickboxing and pilates. These classes have been very popular among our members. I invite you to come visit our club and see all that we have to offer. It is truly a club set apart from the rest.
