After nearly 125 years, we are still Your Community Bank.Ames Community Bank was originally organized on June 1, 1884, in Ogden Iowa, by Wallace Farley and David C. Nelson as a private bank known as City Bank of Ogden. In 1907, City State Bank, formerly know as City Bank of Ogden, filed articles of incorporation. January 1935, First National Bank and City State Bank merged. In 1950, City State Bank once again became a hometown bank when R.E. Jenkins, L.A. Good and H.A. Boehm gained controlling interest in the bank through the purchase of stock. In 1958, L.A. Good was appointed to serve as president and by 1977 purchased additional stock to make him owner of the majority of interest. 1983 marketed the move of City State Bank to the current location on the corner of SW 2nd and Mulberry in Ogden.In 1996, a group of local investors formed Ogden BancShares and purchased City State Bank from the Leonard A. Good Trust. In June 1999, Ogden BancShares started a new bank, or De Novo, in Boone. Community Bank of Boone started its operation at S. Marshall Street in Boone, and in April 2002 a second location was added to support the growing customer base.In January 2001 a second De Novo bank was started. Ames Community Bank became the third bank in the Ogden BancShares family of banks. With rapid growth in the market, Ames Community Bank quickly expanded from the Main Street location to the flagship location on South Duff. Ballard Community Bank, an office of Ames Community Bank, opened in November of 2003 and was followed by an additional Ames Community Bank location in west Ames at 4510 Mortensen Road in 2005.In October of 2006, VisionBank in Grimes officially opened as the fourth bank of Ogden BancShares, Inc VisionBank remains an important asset to the company in serving those in and around Grimes.As our banks have continued to grow, so has the need to better server our customers and our communities. In January 2009, City State Bank, Community Bank of Boone, Ames Community Bank merged into a single charter. This bank remains a subsidiary of Ogden BancShares Inc. with the same local investors. While decisions continue to be made locally, the merger has allowed our company to service customers more efficiently and at their convenience.In April 2010, VisionBank became an office of Ames Community Bank which has again proven to be a convenience for our customers. With the ability to now serve customers at any of our 8 convenient locations, Ames Community Bank is prepared for a prosperous future and will remain focused on local decision making and community investment. 1997-2010 Ames Community Bank.
