Cafe Nini
98 Kercheval Ave, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236
This small room, which began as a coffeehouse and almost immediately segued into a full-fledged restaurant, quickly became a popular spot in Grosse Pointe. The room has an appealing energy and intimacy - with 38 seats around tables nestled close together. The well-prepared menu is the right length for a bite-size restaurant that includes eight appetizers, a half-dozen pasta dishes and five main plates, including notable favorite, tournedos di vitello, medallions of veal filet in a fresh mushroom sauce. Cafe Nini is named for Alicia (Nini) Barbieri, the third generation of the Da Edoardo restaurant family. This small room, which began as a coffeehouse and almost immediately segued into a full-fledged restaurant, quickly became a popular spot in Grosse Pointe. Provided by YP.comI had been looking forward to having dinner at Cafe Nini, but it was a major disappointment. I had a mediocre $20 veal dish for $40. An exorbitant price does not ensure quality. It was served cold and my indifferent waitress brought it back to the table after a conscientious waitress took it to be heated. I see no reason to return.
