The Grosse Pointe Academy Chapel was constructed in 1899 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart and serves as an example of French gothic architecture. It is designated as a national historic site and listed on the Register of Historic Places by the Department of the Interior. The chapel offers its setting for weddings, baptisms, funerals and other ceremonies. The Grosse Pointe Academy s baccalaureate is held in the chapel. The chapel is a part of the academy. Founded in 1885, the academy is located on a more than 20-acre campus. It is an independent, coeducational day school offering classes in preschool through grade eight. The academy, located in Grosse Pointe farms, Mich., provides its students with various academic programs focusing on Christian values and ethical development.
