I love spas and salons, and try to get Groupons for places that look nice so I can find new places I like to go. I got a Groupon for massage/facial/Mani/pedi and made an appointment 2 weeks out - the first day the salon had a 2 hour block open they said. I arrive, and the receptionist looks at me like I have 15 heads, says I don't have an appointment but then miraculously remembered my name! She then says there was a computer glitch and they lost appointments. No biggie, I can deal, assuming a freebie or something nice will be thrown my way. Nope. I was told that I should have called to confirm, and that I could have a massage at noon and nails at 7pm. No argument from me at all... I just walked out, got a refund, and filed a formal complaint with Groupon. Like I said, nice spas are a dime a dozen, and if that's how new customers are treated, it's easy to find another salon.
